RGO Reciprocating Gait Orthosis
It is a highly functional walking orthosis that is widely used in indications such as Spina Bifida, Traumatic Paraplegia, Muscular dystrophies that need support in walking, can be mentally ambulated.
RGO provides excellent walking function compared to other orthoses. The freedom of the hands in the use of the device and the free hip joint structure both prevent freedom in movements and the formation of hip contracture. The forward movement of one leg and the back movement of the other leg, which is repeated at every step, actively both stretches and runs the muscles of the hip area.
Children aged 18 months can be considered as a starter for device use. Being applicable at an early age gives them a better chance in standing and stepping, as well as providing a very important effect on their physiological, skeletal and psychological development. RGO is commonly used at lesion levels L3 to T12.
The orthosis can be used without any intervention. The most important indication for orthosis is hip flexion contracture. In other words, at each step of the user, while one leg is flexed, the tension in the other leg muscles is automatically pushing the leg forward.
